Summer in the Dolomites – Adventure at Every Turn
Cable Cars and Breathtaking Views
Even a cable car ride can be an exciting experience for children. At the top, you will find mountain meadows, panoramic views and pleasant trails perfect for family walks. A popular destination is Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm), the largest high-altitude alpine meadow in Europe, where you can enjoy leisurely walks with views of the majestic Dolomite peaks. Renon (Ritten) near Bolzano is another great choice, accessible by cable car directly from the city. You can combine the trip with a ride on the historic narrow-gauge railway and discover the area's natural highlights.
Fairytale Mountain Lakes
The lakes of the Dolomites are among the most beautiful places in the region. Lago di Carezza (Karersee) near Bolzano enchants visitors with its emerald-green waters surrounded by mountain forests. It is an ideal destination for a shorter excursion. The famous Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee) is also well worth a visit, offering crystal-clear water and spectacular mountain scenery. During the peak season, we recommend checking the current transport regulations and any reservation requirements.
Trails, Playgrounds and Animals
Children often need more than just a walk uphill. The Dolomites are therefore home to themed trails, forest playgrounds and adventure paths that turn a simple walk into a little adventure. In the Obereggen area, you can discover nature along the themed trails of Latemarium. A family holiday can also be enriched by a visit to a mountain farm, where children can experience traditional life in the mountains and meet local animals, or by a trip to one of the region's castles.
Winter in the Dolomites – Snow, Skiing and Hot Chocolate
Skiing for the Whole Family
The Dolomites offer a wide choice of ski resorts with beginner slopes, ski schools and facilities for the youngest guests. Obereggen, for example, is an excellent choice for families who want to combine skiing with beautiful mountain surroundings. When choosing a resort, it is worth considering the children's ages, their skiing experience and the availability of ski lessons.
Tobogganing and Playing in the Snow
A winter holiday does not have to be all about skiing. Toboggan runs, walks through snowy landscapes and first snowshoe adventures offer plenty of fun for those who prefer to explore the mountains at a slower pace. After a day outdoors, enjoy lunch at a mountain hut followed by some well-deserved relaxation in the hotel pool.
If you visit between the end of November and the beginning of December, don't miss the Christmas markets in Bolzano. The historic centre comes alive with festive lights and the aromas of cinnamon and local treats, while children can enjoy the magical atmosphere of the Advent season.
The Dolomites – A Holiday Everyone Will Enjoy
The Dolomites are a place where children can discover nature, try new activities and enjoy their first mountain adventures. Meanwhile, parents can take in breathtaking views, savour excellent cuisine and enjoy moments of relaxation.
We will be happy to help you choose accommodation based on your children's ages, your preferences and the activities you would like to enjoy during your holiday.
