Merano — the Alpine riviera
Merano lies in the sheltered Etschtal valley at 325 m altitude — which gives it an unusually mild climate, earning it the nickname Alpine Riviera. The Habsburgs came here for restorative stays from the 19th century.
The Terme Merano thermal baths offer 25 pools at 32–36 °C, an extensive sauna world and a seasonal outdoor area with mountain views. They are surrounded by the historic centre with its colonnaded promenade and boutiques.
Merano is just 30 minutes by car from Bolzano Airport — a direct transfer from the plane to the spa.
